Founded in 1987 by Mr. Choopong Choopojcharoen, Bar B Q Plaza opened its first branch at Central Plaza Ladprao, Thailand, introducing a self-cooking Mongolian-Japanese barbecue experience—often mistaken for Thai barbecue. Its interactive grilling concept, rich flavors, and premium selection of meats and vegetables quickly won over locals, transforming it into a beloved dining destination.
The restaurant’s signature soups, sauces, and marinated meats formed a harmonious fusion of flavors, enhanced with a touch of spiciness to suit Thai taste buds. This winning combination laid the foundation for its rapid growth.
With increasing popularity, Bar B Q Plaza expanded across Thailand, establishing branches in newly developed malls. Soon, its success extended beyond national borders, reaching neighboring countries eager for a taste of its distinctive grilling experience.
In 2005, the brand entered Malaysia through a strategic joint venture with W.A Food Holdings Sdn. Bhd., bringing its unique barbecue culture to Malaysian diners. The first Malaysian outlet at 1Utama Shopping Centre received overwhelming support, fueling rapid expansion into major malls such as Sunway Pyramid. Before long, Bar B Q Plaza had cemented its presence across Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley region, solidifying its reputation as a regional barbecue leader.
